Last week, some members of the FC marketing team took a trip to the facility of our food processing partner, Best Food. It was a much-needed trip because to understand how best to communicate the activities carried out at the facility, is to see for yourself.
Our Cinematographer, Adetayo Adegbola, sat at his table and shared with the rest of the team things he discovered on this trip.

“Everyone loves to talk about a trip to an island, a country, a landmark or any setting that screams “holiday”. You must ponder, “why would someone feel excited about visiting an abattoir?”. I understand you but honestly, I had the same feeling when I started my journey to Best Food, the warehouse unit for Farmcrowdy. It felt ordinary to visit but by the time it was over, I had felt really thrilled and enlightened. I can’t help but share the experience. There was a mix of shock, awareness, and the kind of excitement that has inspired me to tell you my account”.
Adetayo’s face beamed a cool smile as he spoke.
“I learned from a staff member about the difference between the words “slaughtering” and “killing” an animal. According to the very kind staff, slaughtering means ending the life of an animal for a purpose. Such purposes could include eating, shedding, medicine extraction, and many more you could name. Killing, on the other hand, means to end an animal’s life without a purpose. Sometimes, the purpose behind killing might tend towards a disdain for an animal or might mean one is just wasteful. Slaughtering is honorable than killing”.
Laughing mischievously, he says, “the difference didn’t mean much to me when I downed my favorite pounded yam and goat meat!
Adetayo went on to share how orders are efficiently processed and delivered while ensuring that all quality checks are carried out. Look out for another FC Stories post with details on how these processes are carried out.
