The Vice President, Marketing, Babajide Aroyewun, attended the MindAfrica Live Webinar summit on the 23rd of July, 2021. The virtual Programme which had in attendance, The Executive Director, Mind Africa, Olere Illuebbey and the Chief Executive Officer, Irritech Nigeria Limited, Kenneth Okonkwo was titled, “Green Revolution: Business Opportunities in Virtual and Hi-tech Farming”.
We learnt from Babajide that the implementation of high-tech farming has proven that the production of high-tech farming can increase production by 3 to 10 times. It is a new farm technology practised extensively in Europe, North America, and countries such as Japan and Singapore in Asia. However, it’s fast becoming a mainstay in urban Nigeria for enthusiasts and new farmers who are looking to explore the opportunities without facing the current security risk.
Some of the benefits of Hitech farming include an increase in farm harvests which will in turn increase income. It could also serve as a support system for local consumption as well as tackle the high demand for particular items in particular regions, he further submitted.
Babajide while speaking on the relevance of virtual farming commented that “When involved in a virtual farming note that each investment has a cycle you can invest in. At the end of the cycle when the crops are sold, each investor will earn a percentage of the crops”
